Halloween, also known as "All Hallows' Eve", is a celebration observed in many countries on October 31 each year.
The celebration observes a number of traditions, including remembering the dead and harvest time. According to Velma in the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! episode Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!: Halloween, "Halloween isn't about candy and dressing up as topical celebrities. The ancient roots of the holiday are tied up with the autumn equinox and the Gaelic harvest festivals."
Nevertheless, in the Scooby-Doo stories set around Halloween there tends to be an emphasis on the more modern observance of Halloween: carved pumpkins, trick-or-treating, candy and costumes.
