Gremlin on a Plane is the sixteenth episode of season 1 of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!

Premise[]

A gremlin sneaks aboard the maiden voyage of Air Gigantica. The gang has been invited for a ride on it, but with a panicing pilot, Daphne reveals she has a great knowledge about the plane and how to fly it.

Synopsis[]

The gang is invited to the first flight of the Air Gigantica, an airplane originally designed by lead engineer Ed Johnson but modified by Big Earl to be the world's largest. However, Johnson condemns the modifications, refusing to fly on it as it would be unsafe, and warns of a gremlin sabotaging the plane. After briefly touring the plane, they sit in their seats, listening to the pilot, Captain Anderson, as the plane takes off.

Once the plane reaches cruising altitude, they begin searching the plane for clues. Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Earl search for clues, finding an engineer's uniform near where the gremlin was seen. Meanwhile, Shaggy and Scooby visit the cafeteria and see the soft-serve ice cream machines but encounter the gremlin who sabotages the machines. They escape the food launched at them and reunite with Fred's group.

Suddenly, the airplane violently jolts, and in a fit of panic, Anderson quits and shuts himself in a lavatory. With the gremlin sabotaging the electrical system, they manually control the plane as the autopilot becomes unreliable. As Scooby finds a magnet in the cockpit damaging the controls, they find the gremlin has sabotaged the wing flap. As Daphne pilots the plane, Fred climbs onto the plane's wing to repair the flap. Though the gremlin attacks him, causing him to slip and nearly fall off the wing, he uses his tether to reenter the plane, shutting the gremlin out.

As the gremlin sabotages the fuel systems, causing the plane to run out quickly, the gang plans to stop the gremlin with a trap. Shaggy and Scooby lure it disguised as electricians and the others then attempt to capture it in a net. However, the gremlin notices the trap and stops them, attacking them. Fortunately, Shaggy captures the gremlin in a reclining seat, which folds shut and captures the gremlin. However, as the plane nosedives, the gang is forced to abandon it, flying away with the gremlin, Earl, and Anderson in the Mystery Machine, using its newly-designed Plane Mode.

As Daphne flies the Mystery Machine out of the Air Gigantica, Fred unmasks the gremlin, revealing Johnson as the culprit. Upset about Earl's modifications to the airplane, he sabotaged it to prevent it from being used commercially. He secretly snuck onboard the plane, using magnets to scale the plane's outside, then used the magnets to sabotage the plane's machinery. The Mystery Machine breaks out of the Air Gigantica just before it crashes and prepares for landing but hits a windmill, damaging its wing. As a result, the Mystery Machine suffers a rough landing, though not harming any passengers, and Johnson is handed to authorities. An ice cream machine from the Air Gigantica crushes the Mystery Machine.

Quotes[]

Shaggy: He's turned food against us!
Scooby: Rhat monster!

Fred: OK, we're about to try my latest Mystery Machine upgrade - plane mode! (pushes button)
Scooby: Plane mode?
Shaggy: Like when did you even do this?
Fred: Never mind that, Fred Jones is back in control. I get to decide who's in the driver's seat! (looks across and sees a despondent Daphne) Sighs. And being in control of the driver's seat means making sure the right person is sitting there. Daphne, it's all yours.
Daphne: Really?
Fred: Really. I watched you flying that plane and I was impressed. You know what you're doing.
(Daphne squeals in delight and hugs Fred)
Velma: This is all very touching, but may I remind you we have a mystery to reveal. I mean, he's still sitting there all gremliny.

Ed Johnson: (shaking) And-and I would've gotten away with it if-if it wasn't for you meddling kids.
