  • Climbing: The gremlin was an agile climber, able to climb on the outside of a plane in midair. This is made possible with magnets used to scale the airplane wall.
  • Sabotage: As Johnson was an engineer, he demonstrated strong knowledge in mechanics and knew how to sabotage the plane as the gremlin. He used the magnets for climbing to sabotage the control panel.

History[]

Be Cool, Scooby-Doo![]

Season one[]

The gremlin was the disguise of Ed Johnson, the lead engineer working on the Air Gigantica who wanted revenge against the airplane's owner, Big Earl. He first attacked two engineers while the plane was parked in a hangar. It then attacked the gang when they rode on a test flight on the plane, sabotaging the plane in midair. It damaged the left wing flap, forcing Fred to climb out onto the wing and repair it. However, the gremlin attacked him, causing him to slip off. Fred used his safety tether to pull himself back onboard, shutting the gremlin out.

Ed Johnson unmasked

However, the gremlin then sabotaged the plane's fuel lines, causing it to quickly run out. So, the gang prepared a net trap for the gremlin; the initial trap failed, as the gremlin noticed and tore the net, but Shaggy caught it in reclining seat, which folded shut and caught the gremlin. Just before the Air Gigantica crashed, the gang evacuated on the Mystery Machine, redesigned as an airplane, and took the gremlin with them to be unmasked. Once they landed, Johnson was handed to authorities.
