The Great Gazoo is an alien from the planet Zetox, who was exiled to Earth as a punishment and can only return if he does enough good deeds for Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

He has wish-like granting abilities. He can also appear instantaneously if summoned, and can levitate. He is only visible to Fred and Barney, with the the gang being able to see him, because they come from another time period.

- His punishment, while not specified, was because he created a button which could destroy the universe because he wanted to be the first to make it. Fred and Barney was the first to find him, and therefore can only see him, although their kids and animals could also see him (which is not mentioned in the comic).

- With ratings waning for Hanna-Barbera's The Flintstones on ABC, they added the Great Gazoo to the sixth and final season to spice things up.
