The Ghost of the Chieftain wore boots, a pair of blue leggings with black fur hanging from the bottoms, a blue buckskin with its backside openings being longer than the frontside adorned with a belt, a hairy animal pelt with horns still protruding from its head, and he also wore a teeth necklace around his neck. Jim seemingly used the painting of the chieftain hanging from the lobby as a model to create his own costume.

Personality[]

According to Jim, the Ghost of the Native American Chieftain was out for revenge since he didn’t like the fact that the Blake's Hotel was built on his people’s land. It is shown throught the mystery's course that the ghost only acts in favor of getting wealth, his sole objetive being to reach the native Medallion hidden within the depths of Blake's Hotel at all costs, going as far as to scare every employee or guest until they leave or as to kidnap and capture anyone staying just for money. He's also shown to be bad tempered, since he's seen banging on the door to one of the rooms Shaggy and Scooby use to hide from him.

Jim the Gardener unmasked

Jim the Gardener unmasked.

It was a later revaled that the ghost was a hoax used by Jim and the cook to scare people as they tried to find a golden medallion. They eventually scared the rest of the employees and nearly forcing the hotel into bankruptcy

Once the gang reaches the hotel, Uncle Blake tells them the Ghost started to appear a month ago before their arrival, scaring everybody and putting his business in risk of going bankrupt, the only employees staying being the Cook and Jim, the gardener. The gardener has told him the monster is the ghost of a powerful warrior that used to live in the land about 200 years ago and that he has started to attack his customers, angry that his home has been turned into a hotel.

After The gang hear about the ghost from Rudolph L. Blake they become determined to solve the case.

Shaggy and Scooby can encounter the ghost whenever they open a door in the second floor, aslong as Scooby's around, the ghost will appear and chase them until he looses the hungry pair.

After Shaggy sets Blake free, they both hear the growls of the Ghost up in the dungeon as he spots Scooby in his lair and proceeds to chase him away.

Hurrying up and with Uncle Blake's help, Shaggy is able to locate the native gold Medallion the Ghost has been looking for so long. Finding the Ghost chasing Scooby in the cellar in circles, Shaggy sets him a trap by hanging the medallion on a hook that swing above the well in the middle. Desperate to get it, the specter stops chasing Scooby and tries to reach out and grab it, but loses his balance and falls into the well.

Incapacitated, he's put into ropes and taken out along with the rest of the suspects at the same time the rest of the gang comes back, revealing the ghost to be Jim the Gardener once the mask is taken out of his face, with Fred having the glowing paint used to make the ghost glow. Shaggy also points out the Cook as Jim's helping hand since they saw them talking in the lobby throught the peephole. With witnesses of their actions, the bellhop also reveals to be an agent of the Tribal Police before putting the cook into a pair of cuffs and arresting both Jim and his helper for looting the indian cemetery under the hotel, leaving the gang free to spend their holidays skiing as intented.

Native American Chieftain Painting - Blake Hotel

A painting in the lobby.

  • According to the bellhop, he says he never heard of the "american chieftain" before despite him being a great knower on native american history, which could imply the ghost is not an actual historical character.
    • If this is true it possibly means the cook and Jim based the ghost off of a painting in the lobby, not noticing it was only decoration and not the depiction of an actual person.
