The ghost of Madame Zobrinsky was the alleged return of Madame Zobrinsky, who disguised herself as her own ghost.

Physical appearance[]

Zobrinsky's ghost resembled a thin, elderly woman with glowing blue skin, dark blue hair with large black streaks and red eyes with black scleras. She wears a Victorian-style, long-sleeved dress with shoulder pads, a necklace with a pendant, hoop earrings, and ballet shoes from the 1960s in different shades of blue. In most of her appearances, she is seen holding a walking cane.

Personality[]

Zobrinsky's ghost was initially a hostile monster, aggressively scaring her victims away from her dance studio. Naturally protective of her famous studio, she chased people away and warned them not to return. However, upon interacting with Maddie Ziegler, she seemed to have a change of heart, becoming more indifferent to her presence and giving her opportunities to lift her curse while still somewhat maintaining her intimidating demeanour. Zobrinsky is shown not to be completely hostile, as when Ziegler performed her dance, she expressed delight and amazement, deeming her worthy to take the studio.

Being based on a person of Russian descent, Zobrinsky's ghost speaks in a Russian accent.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Electrokinesis: The ghost is able to generate electricity with her palms, which can travel through conductive material. This is revealed to be the static electricity generated from her shoes; this electricity is capable of shocking people, but only temporarily and is therefore incapable of directly harming her victims.
  • Levitation: The ghost appears to be able to levitate a short height above the ground to appear ghost-like, but not truly fly. This is the result of Zobrinsky's advanced footwork.
  • Speed: The ghost is able to move at seemingly-supersonic speeds effortlessly, being an ability akin to teleportation. In reality, this is also done with Zobrinsky's dance abilities.
  • Telekinesis: The ghost is able to manipulate her grand piano, causing it to glow, play music on its own, chase people, and eventually destroy itself. This ability is not explained.

History[]

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?[]

Season one[]

When dancer Maddie Ziegler threatened to take over her dance studio in Pittsburgh and reopen it as her own, famed ballerina Madame Zobrinsky disguised herself as her own ghost to scare her away. She was first seen using a grand piano to chase Ziegler and two movers out of the studio, warning them to never return.

However, when Ziegler returned accompanied by Mystery Inc., the ghost appeared a second time to confront her, placing a Russian dance curse on her for not heeding her warning. This time considering her as a potential candidate to inherit her studio, to test her resolve, Zobrinsky left instructions on the wall on how to lift the curse, ordering Ziegler to teach one of three specified dances to a student to lift the curse. Ziegler attempted to teach Shaggy and Scooby the dances, but the ghost sabotaged each of their attempts, leading to their failure.

The ghost appeared to offer her a final chance to lift the curse, ordering her to perform the notoriously-difficult and dangerous Zobrinsky Triangle dance in front of a large audience. That night, Shaggy, Scooby and Ziegler successfully performed the dance, being the first to do so since Zobrinsky herself. The ghost appeared, witnessing the dance, but was soon captured by Mystery Inc., who prepared a trap for her in the theatre. The ghost was unmasked and Zobrinsky was revealed to be alive. Zobrinsky, seeing Ziegler pass her test, deemed her worthy to inherit her studio and personally attended its grand reopening.
