Ghost of Dracula is the first of two stories in Scooby-Doo... Mystery Comics #25. It was followed by The Gorgeous Ghost!.
Premise
Sidney Ladacur, a mayoral candidate, is threatened by the ghost of Dracula.
Synopsis
At a Dracula film fest, mayoral hopeful Sidney Ladacur overhears Fred talking about the gang's experiences with phony ghosts. Ladacur approaches them after the film and enlists them to help with his ghost problem -- he's being threatened by someone claiming to be the ghost of Dracula. Ladacur is, in fact, the great-great-grand nephew of Vlad Dracula, and the people behind the threats have vowed to make this public.
Ladacur and the gang arrive at his campaign headquarters, only to find the place ransacked and another threatening letter from "Count Dracula." Unknown to Ladacur and the gang, however, the office is bugged, and Tom and Herb -- two thugs -- hear that Ladacur has not been scared out of the race.
The next night, Ladacur is giving a speech when "Count Dracula" leaps on stage, announcing to the crowd Ladacur is the kin of Dracula. Dracula jumps down into the crowd and appears to turn into a bat. Ladacur heads back to his office, but Tom and Herb have broken in and are waiting for him. They present a list of demands, telling him if the demands are met, they will furnish the press with proof that the Dracula stunt was a trick. Ladacur throws them out of his office.
Shaggy and Scooby check into a local mask manufacturer, while Fred, Daphne, and Velma visit a bat breeder. They compare lists of recent customers and find Tom's address. The story of the fake Dracula is widely reported and Ladacur wins the election for mayor.
