The ghost is a hostile monster which sought to terrorize the patients at Cromwell's Rest Home and Spa. He attacked Mystery Inc. by chasing, but it is unknown how the ghost treats his other victims. He had a tendency to frequently use the word "bad," either as a verbal tic or in order to refer to his disobedient patients.

History[]
Scooby-Doo (DC Comics)[]
The ghost of Nathaniel Catwell was the disguise of psychiatrist Dr. Kreitzer, who wanted to keep his patients mentally-ill to make the rest home more money. By posing as the ghost, Kreitzer convinced his patients that they were hallucinating, preventing them from being released from the institution. The disguise was based on the rest home's namesake and founder, Dr. Nathaniel Catwell, who purportedly went insane and returned from the grave to terrorize the patients, whom he blames for his mental condition. The ghost was first described by one of the patients, Mrs. Voorhees, who witnessed the ghost at night.
Dr. Kreitzer unmasked.
The ghost later attacked Mystery Inc. indirectly, using his poltergeist powers to move the furniture in Voorhees' room. However, Mystery Inc. captured the ghost while he attempted to terrorize Mrs. Voorhees that same night. Using a magnet, Fred was able to restrain the ghost using his costume's metal chains, capturing it. The ghost was unmasked and Kreitzer was exposed and handed over to authorities for his crimes.
