In a retelling of A Christmas Carol, the Ghost of Christmas Past was the disguise of Dr. Buggly.

Physical appearance[]

The Ghost of Christmas Past resembled a pale and skinny blue-skinned woman with red eyes, light blue lips and long wild white hair. She wore a long loose and tattered light blue dress, as well as being covered with a white-bluish glow. During the false vision Velma was forced to have about her childhood, the ghost appeared less monstrous, with normal eyes, straight hair and her dress being completely intact.

Personality[]

The Ghost of Christmas Past was initially shown to be threatening, hissing at and chasing the gang when they encountered her. However, in hypnotically-induced scenes, she would later communicate with Velma and Ebenezer Scrooge, showing them her true personality. As her name implied, the Ghost of Christmas Past was dedicated to showing people their mistakes in their past life, making them regret their past choices. Her manipulation had a strong psychological effect on Velma, convincing her that she was wasting her potential and intellect to solve mysteries.

The Ghost of Christmas Past was the disguise of Ebenezer Scrooge's doctor, Dr. Buggly. Buggly wanted to change Scrooge's selfish and miserly ways so he would pay for his clerk's son's medical treatment. The ghost attacked Mystery Inc. while they investigated Scrooge's home. However, she would appear to Scrooge himself; in the original A Christmas Carol, the ghost made Scrooge regret ending his relationship with his lover for money. However, as Buggly saw Velma as a threat, the Ghost of Christmas Past also appeared to Velma, showing scenes from her childhood. In the scene, Velma could have become an illustrious inventor, but she decided to use her intellect to solve mysteries with the gang. The ghost hoped to convince Velma she was wasting her potential by investigating crimes.

The Ghost of Christmas Past was followed by the Ghosts of Christmas Present and Yet to Come.
