This article is about the character from the DTV movie Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders. For other uses, see Crystal (disambiguation).

Crystal is an extraterrestrial government agent from another planet posing as a freelance nature photographer.

Physical appearance[]

In her human form, Crystal is a slender and tall tanned woman, almost matching Shaggy's height, with a long, ravenous black hair with a navy-blue shine, honey-brown eyes. As Crystal is not a native from Earth, she sets her human guise based on the television signals from the 1960s she picked up from her planet. Thus, her outfit is remisicent of a stereotypical hippie girl from the 1960s. She wears an orange T-shirt with a brown studded belt, a matching orange headband, light blue bell bottom jeans, brown moccasins, and a peace sign necklace.

As an alien, Crystal towers over Shaggy in height, however still keeping a distinguishable feminine hourglass shape. Her head is large and bulbous, common to the stereotypical appearance of a Grey alien, as well as large eyes. Her light blue body is translucent and is composed mostly of fluid, with several bubbles moving around beneath her skin. The strange blue coloring also gives the resemblance of glass making her name literal in a sense. She also appears to have three fingers on each hand.

Personality[]

Crystal is kind and charismatic. She understands Shaggy's sense of humor and even speaks similarly to the way he does by starting sentences with the word "like" and using "groovy." Crystal is brave unlike Shaggy and Scooby showed when the imposter MP's forced them to leave the cave area where they saw the jackalope and ultimately: the aliens. After walking a distance away from the cave, she immediately wanted to go back.

Being a government agent from another planet, Crystal is very dedicated to her task. She relies on her knowledge of the human culture she had learned and applies her style of speech and fashion to blend in with Earthlings. This trait makes Shaggy develop a romantic interest on her, who shares the similar 1960s hippie subculture synonymous to her guise. Despite the romantic feelings from Shaggy, Crystal wants to keep her true identity a secret from Shaggy. Crystal admits her flaws of deceit to him, showing she did care and valued his friendship to be as honest as she could about her occupation and actual alien form when they were in danger.

In the end, Crystal really did have feelings for Shaggy, but seemed to try and keep anything romantic from happening between them, knowing that, in the end, "long distance relationships never work out."

Powers and abilities[]

Crystal has the the ability to change her appearances using an image-changing device that symbols a peace symbol pendant hanging on her neck. Being an alien from another planet, Crystal possesses high level of intelligence. She can speak English very fluently and has obtained vast knowledge of the human culture from one of Earth's broadcast she picked up back in her home planet in order to fulfill her human disguise.

History[]

Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders[]

Crystal (alien)

Crystal in her true alien form.

Shortly after being abducted by the Aliens from Lester's home, Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo are awakened by Crystal and Amber in the middle of the desert. Briefly introducing herself as a freelance wildlife photographer, Crystal then offers Scooby and Shaggy a ride back into town by dropping them off at Sergio's Diner, where Lester and the rest of the gang were.

After breakfast, Crystal appears, asking Shaggy to show her the jackalope he found the previous night. After a brief time of taking wildlife photos in the desert, Crystal, Amber, Shaggy, and Scooby are eventually detained off the area by the fake MPs. Crystal then confesses to Shaggy that instead of being a wildlife photographer, she is actually a government agent, "sent by the government to investigate alien sightings in the area", and asks for his and Scooby's assistance on her mission, which the two accepts.

Their exploration around the desert eventually leads them to an underground gold mine, before the Aliens appear and chase them down. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang (Fred, Velma, and Daphne) make another way into the mine where they also get chased before being captured from a net on a crane. The Aliens (revealed to be the SALF members: Steve, Laura, and Max) order the MPs to search and bring back Crystal, Amber, Scooby, and Shaggy, who manage to escape from them.

Eventually realizing that the rest of the gang are in trouble, Crystal, Shaggy, Scooby, and Amber go through the mines to quickly find them. A brief struggle from the SALF members and the MPs forces Crystal and Amber to reveal their true identity as actual aliens to everyone, including Shaggy and Scooby. Steve, however, noting that there is more value to capture Crystal and Amber than the gold he and his team discovered, attempts to pin the two of the aliens down with a bulldozer. Noticing Steve's plans, Crystal attempts to flee, but she ends up being pinned down and nearly ends up being captured by Steve.

Scooby and Shaggy, noticing that Crystal and Amber may end up being captured, suddenly intervenes and foils the SALF members' plan before finally capturing them for custody.

Reverting back to her human form, Crystal thanks Shaggy before explaining to them who she truly is. She reveals to the gang that she and Amber are government agents from another planet who were sent to investigate signals sent from Earth via the SALF stations. Crystal then, reveals to Shaggy that although she did have genuine romantic feelings for him, she didn't pursue it, knowing that they wouldn't be able to maintain a relationship (since she and Amber ultimately have to return to their home planet, which is about twenty lightyears away from Earth). In a heartfelt goodbye, she kissed Shaggy on the lips hoping he would always remember her as a dear friend, leaving him heartbroken and absolutely devastated along with Scooby-Doo.
