The Hound of the Barkervilles was the disguise of Bentley, the caretaker of Barkerville Hall.

Physical appearance[]

The Hound of the Barkervilles was a fierce-looking anthropomorphic dog with light brown fur. The fur around its neck was fluffier and a darker shade of brown. It had small yellow eyes surrounded by large black rims.

Personality[]

The Hound's behavior was much like that of an angry dog or wolf, growling and snarling frequently.

History[]

Early life[]

In the days of Lord Barkerville's great-grandfather, Cedric Barkerville, the Hound of the Barkervilles terrorized his home and devoured all of his sheep. He eventually banished the Hound from the moors. Legend stated that if the Hound were ever to return, the house of the Barkervilles would fall.

Bentley unmasked

Bentley unmasked.

Bentley took advantage of the legend and tried to take over Barkerville Hall by impersonating the Hound, since Cedric Barkerville's will stated that if the house were to fall, the caretaker would take it over. He stole Lord Barkerville's sheep and hypnotized Scooby-Doo in an attempt to frame him for being the Hound. To clear Scooby's name, the gang set a trap for the Hound by covering an empty grave with some heather so he would fall in. Despite the Hound's attempts to frighten them away, he ended up caught in the trap. He was pulled out of the hole and unmasked, revealing Bentley.
