Father O'Rourke was a United States Army operative working undercover as a priest at Crystal Cove's church. One of the collaborators in the Project SCOOBI, he contributed to the development of Scrappy-Doo, a supersoldier that went rogue and killed him and the other scientists.

Physical appearance[]

O'Rourke was a plump, potbellied and balding man with grey hair on the sides of his head. He wore priest's vestments consisting of a black cassock under a black blazer and gold rosary. He also wore black pants and a black belt.

Personality[]

Swendig appeared to be an affable priest, assisting Fred in his conversion to Christianity and publishing video sermons for youth. However, he was posthumously revealed to be a genius scientist who aided in a secret military operation to suppress "meddling kids." In doing so, he helped develop a dangerous super-soldier, supporting making it invincible, and aided the other scientists in abusing him. The abusive treatment Scrappy endured at the hands of the scientists eventually turned him rogue, causing him to kill his creators as an act of revenge against humanity.

History[]

Early life[]

Swendig was a United States Army spy and researcher for Project SCOOBI, a military project designed to combat "meddling kids," which the military thought was a threat to society. Each of the scientists worked undercover to spy on society, with O'Rourke becoming the priest at Crystal Cove's church. However, after anonymous operative Uncle Scoobi stole the research of Dr. Edna Perdue, the scientists were able to create a super-soldier in the form of a puppy, Scrappy-Doo, designed for espionage purposes.[1]

However, the scientists regularly abused Scrappy, and this led him to turn rogue. After Scrappy killed scientist Earl Cogburn (also the police sheriff of Crystal Cove), the scientists attempted to kill him, but he was designed to be invincible.[1] Evading responsibility for the project, they abandoned the project, including O'Rourke, with the exception of Uncle Scoobi, who aided him in murdering his creators and intended to escape Crystal Cove with him.[2]

Season two[]

When Fred converted to Catholicism, O'Rourke gave him resources he needed to battle his mother's ghost haunting him.[3] However, while making a video sermon in the sacristy, Scrappy killed O'Rourke, with Uncle Scoobi helping him remove his body.[4] Later, during the court hearing of military officer Don Gigisfather (one of Scrappy's creators), Uncle Scoobi threw O'Rourke's body from an upper floor into the court below, leaving Fred a threatening message for the public to hear.[5]
