Dr. Edna Perdue is a scientist and researcher of the human brain, working in the Project SCOOBI. She is also the grandmother of Norville Rogers.

Physical appearance[]

Dr. Edna Perdue

Young Dr. Perdue

Dr. Perdue is an African-American woman with brown skin, brown hair and black eyes. She wore yellow-green hoop earrings, yellow-green bracelets, a white lab coat with a yellow-green turtleneck sweater underneath, a black belt with a silver buckle, an orange dress, and brown boots.

Personality[]

Though extremely intelligent and making significant discoveries, Dr. Perdue is an unethical scientist who has practiced many inhumane experiments involving live human brains. While her goal of developing the world's first brain transplant is not inherently selfish and evil, she willingly collaborated with General Harry Meeting who used her work for political gain. While her work could have been revolutionary to the field of medicine, it was easily abused for a malicious propaganda campaign, only to be stopped by her when she did not receive credit for her work. In addition, her test subjects suffered a poor quality of life as their disembodied brains were confined in containers. As such, while she was not as malicious as General Meeting, she was definitely reckless in her methods.

History[]

Early life[]

Dr. Edna Perdue is a neurosurgeon who made revolutionary discoveries surrounding the human brain during the late twentieth century. In her research, she discovered a way to keep the human brain alive outside the body, keeping it in a sealed container, and also translated its signals into human speech. Her work attracted General Harry Meeting of the United States Army, who collaborated with her for a military operation, Project SCOOBI, designed to combat the hipster movement. During this project, Dr. Perdue researched ways to develop the first brain transplants, which could be used for espionage against the hipsters and for propaganda purposes.[1]

Dr. Purdue successfully discovered the first brain transplants after years of research, but General Meeting attempted to take credit for her work. In response to this, Dr. Perdue hid all her work, sealed off her laboratory and undid the experiments. With General Meeting unable to reproduce the results without her help, the project failed. In order to get Dr. Perdue to reveal her research, General Meeting had Dr. Perdue institutionalized in the Crystal Cove Insane Asylum.[1] However, she never revealed her work and was assumed to have died in the asylum, survived by her daughter, Blythe Rogers. However, the public was told an alternate narrative, stating that Dr. Perdue never finished her work and instead descended into insanity in the process.[2]

Velma[]

Season 1[]

Dr. Perdue's work was recreated by Victoria Jones, who wanted to replace the brain of her immature son, Fred, with that of someone she deemed more competent. Purchasing Dr. Perdue's mansion and finding her laboratory, she rebuilt the laboratory, hypnotized Diya Dinkley to assist her, and murdered three people, removing each of their brains and keeping them alive in a container. She was eventually caught by Diya's daughter, Velma, who exposed her for her crimes. However, during the confrontation, Victoria was crushed to death by a falling stalactite.[1]

Season 2[]

Dr. Perdue was revealed to be alive in "Burning Woman".
