Season one[]

Johnson was the lead engineer who built the Air Gigantica with Big Earl, but Earl modified the blueprints to make it the largest plane in the world. Disapproving of the modifications, he disguised himself as a gremlin as an act of revenge against Big Earl, sabotaging the plane. He first attacked two engineers maintaining the plane while it was parked in a hangar.

When Big Earl invited the gang onto the plane for a flight, Johnson refused to fly with them, stating it would be unsafe. However, as the gremlin, he snuck onto the plane anyways and began sabotaging the machinery. While the plane was in flight, he scaled the outside of the aircraft with magnets, snuck onboard, and sabotaged the cockpit controls with the magnet. He then climbed onto the left wing and sabotaged the wing flap. With the malfunction, the pilot quit in the a state of panic, abandoning the cockpit and shutting himself in a lavatory. Fred managed to climb onto the wing and repair the flap, but Johnson attacked him, causing him to slip. Fred, however, pulled himself back onboard using his safety tether and shut the gremlin outside.

Johnson finally sabotaged the fuel lines, causing the plane to run out quickly. So, the gang prepared a trap for the gremlin, trapping it in a reclining seat. Just before the Air Gigantica crashed, the gang evacuated on the Mystery Machine, redesigned as an airplane, and took the gremlin with them to be unmasked. Velma exposed Johnson's crimes as they escaped the nosediving plane, and Johnson was handed to authorities upon landing.
