Dr. Buggly was the doctor of Ebeneezer Scrooge. He disguised himself as the ghost of Jacob Marley, as well as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.

Physical appearance[]

Dr. Buggly was a middle-aged man with brown hair, mustache and mutton chops. He wore a long dark tan coat and a white scarf over a long sleeved white shirt. He also sported square-rimmed glasses and a dark grey bowler hat with a black band.

Personality[]

Dr. Buggly was a greedy man who happily made money from Scrooge's hypochondria, diagnosing him with various non-existent diseases just to charge him for the treatment. However, he also turned to crime to increase his profits, attacking Scrooge so he would pay him for another person's treatment. Buggly tried to convince Scrooge to leave behind his miserly ways and become a more generous man, using his money to help others. So, although he did it for selfish gain, Buggly argued that his crimes were for the greater good.

Season two[]

Buggly discovered that Scrooge's clerk, Bob Cratchit, had a severely-ill son, Tiny Tim, but Scrooge would not spare him money for the treatment. Wanting to profit off Tiny Tim's treatment, Buggly disguised himself as various ghosts to make Scrooge a more generous man so he would pay him for Tiny Tim's treatment. He first disguised himself as the ghost of Scrooge's business partner, Jacob Marley. He then posed as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to convince Scrooge to reconsider his miserly ways, using hypnotism he learned from hypnotist Gubmuh Hab.

Dr. Buggly unmasked.

When Mystery Inc. began investigating the crime, Buggly saw Velma's intellect as a threat to his operation. So, he used the ghost disguises to hypnotize Velma as well, trying to convince her that she was wasting her potential and intellect by investigating crimes with Mystery Inc. However, Velma, determined to capture the culprit, helped Mystery Inc. capture him as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come and unmask Buggly as the culprit. Velma explained her thinking to the Science and Reason Synopsium, but Buggly warned that because his plot was foiled, Tiny Tim would not be able to receive the treatment he needed.
