Dean Longfellow is the person in charge of Elias Kingston University. He interviews prospective students to determine if they are "Kingston Material". This would often include setting them a task. He was originally going to break with custom and just let Velma in due to her outstanding academic record, until Fred volunteered the gang to solve the university's ghost problem.
