Personality[]
Daphne was raised to be strong and independent by her father, while her mother just expected her to be like her sister, Thalia. Despite this, Daphne is very temperamental, and lashes out either verbally or physically when she is emotionally distraught, which may have been brought on by the fact that her father would mildly beat her to toughen her up.[1] She also put her career on the line, because the major news outlets wouldn't seek out the truth like she wanted to.
She briefly dated Fred in their freshman year at college, but once they slept together, she regretted the entire romance.[2] However, she still cares very deeply for him and they remained close friends and later colleagues. Fred, on the other hand, became almost obsessed with Daphne, putting aside his dream of directing to be her cameraman. He is also always constantly proposing to her, which she constantly turns him down, something that has become a joke between them and others. He remained persistent, but months of dealing with the fallout of the nanite plague and being surrounded by monsters, with the addition of Daisy Dinkley to the team,[1] had slowly begun to make Fred see things differently, and had finally become tired of Daphne's rejection,[3] proposing one last time while gathering intel of the consumerites in CJNickel, which after an angry eye-to-eye, she accepted, much to his surprise.[1]
