Charles M. Thraber was a newspaper magnate and treasure looter. Following his death, Thraber's treasures were returned to their rightful owners, except for the Francesi Palace ceiling, which remained hidden until it was found by Mystery Inc. and Liza Koshy.

Physical appearance[]

In all image depictions, Thraber was a middle-aged man with black hair and a mustache. While photographed in Egypt, Greece and Easter Island, he wore a light beige sunhat and a brown overcoat with lapels, a beige ascot and black belt. Thraber also wore brown pants tucked into black boots, as well as black gloves. While photographed in his own mansion, he wore a darker outfit, consisting of a black hat, a black suit and black pants. In some photographs, Thraber wore a black necktie with white stripes.

Personality[]

According to Velma's historical records, Thraber was initially an upper-class public figure who enjoyed his wealth and fame. He indulged in lavish celebrations in which he flaunted his stolen goods. However, later in life, he became a recluse, possibly to avoid being caught as a treasure thief.

History[]

Early life[]

According to Velma's historical records, Thraber was a newspaper magnate who also looted treasures from various locations around the world. He was photographed in front of a pyramid in Egypt, the Acropolis of Athens, Greece and the Moai on Easter Island. Keeping his treasures in his mansion, Thraber often held lavish celebrations in which he flaunted his wealth. However, later in life, he suddenly disappeared from public view, becoming a more reclusive figure, likely to avoid being exposed as an art thief.

Post-mortem[]

Following Thraber death, his mansion became uninhabited with his valuables remaining inside. After it was revealed that Thraber's treasures were obtained illegally, almost all of the treasures were eventually returned to their rightful owners. The only treasure that was not returned was the golden ceiling of the Francesi Palace, which was hidden under a layer of plaster in one of the mansion's rooms. The ceiling remained lost until it was eventually found by Mystery Inc., who used a jackhammer on the mansion to remove the plaster layer. In doing so, Mystery Inc. stopped the mansion's caretaker from taking the ceiling for himself.
