Cassandra Peterson is an American actress, best known for her portrayal as the horror hostess, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, which she popularized in the 1981 TV series, Elvira's Movie Macabre.  Peterson has starred in two Scooby-Doo films. Each character she has voiced are variations of Elvira.

• Peterson's Elvira is parodied in DC Comics' Scooby-Doo story Mystery Macabre, with the character Evil Ella.
• The cover of DC Comics' Scooby-Doo! Where Are You? #38 has Daphne dressed as Elvira with the same bouffant hairstyle; while the story inside, has a quasi Elvira-like character called Nocturna, Mistress of Midnight.
