Details have changed and been downplayed over the years. This film could be a set up for a shared universe, but as of right now it seems to be a standalone crossover movie that has Mystery Inc. (unknown if that's their actual name) and at least Captain Caveman teaming up to stop Dick Dastardly from threatening the world (maybe even the universe, or multiverse, depending on if these are "worlds" coming together or if they all live on the same Earth, but this is all guessing on my part). The threat is real, but I think that would seem obvious. Dick isn't dressing up as a monster.

Originally, it was announced that the film was called SCOOB, with the plot being that the gang are working for some larger organization. The film has been announced as CGI before, but whether that has been kept is unknown.

Dax Shephard was announced as the new co-director and had rewriting privileges, but CHiPs failed for WB, so he's been quietly given the boot. WBA favourite Tony Cervone is back to directing solo.

Originally, Matt Lieberman was announced as writer, but it's unclear if his script will be used at all. The last piece of news was that Chris Columbus joined as producer, using a script by Kelly Fremon Craig, based on a draft by Jack Donaldson and Derek Elliot.
