Block-Long Hong Kong Terror is the tenth episode of the third season of What's New, Scooby-Doo?, and the thirty-eighth overall.
Premise[]
The gang travels to Hong Kong so that Shaggy can get his rubber ducky repaired, while the city is terrorized by a Chinese dragon who has stolen an expensive ring.
Synopsis[]
Mystery Inc. travels to Hong Kong to repair Shaggy's rubber duck, Duck Guy, at the Ling Toy Company. However, as they watch a Chinese New Year parade, a dragon comes to life and attacks the parade, swallowing a precious candy ring on display at a nearby Ling Toy Company store. They meet Detective Kang, who seeks to solve the crime for his own reputation.
They travel to the Ling Toy Company Headquarters, though they notice they are being followed by an obscured figure. The owner of the toy factory, Harold Ling, suspects one of his former employees, Louie Hong Fa, stole the ring as revenge for firing him. Hong Fa specialized in creating toys which inflated to enormous sizes, though Mystery Inc. notes the warehouse number printed on one of the toys. Suddenly, the dragon appears, trapping Shaggy and Scooby on a high crumbling ceiling beam. However, an acrobat appears, rescues them, and quickly flees.
Ling directs Mystery Inc. to his last remaining toy store on Victoria Peak. They encounter a group of acrobats, led by Mei Ling, Harold's daughter and the person who rescued Shaggy and Scooby. Mei Ling expresses her desires to lead her group around the world with her partner, Wu, despite her father's wishes to have her manage the store. She points Mystery Inc. to Hong Fa's warehouse, where they find a message telling them to meet him at King's Road.
Velma, Daphne, and Fred visit Ling's boat, where they find that Ling had been selling giant toys. Meanwhile, Shaggy has his duck repaired with Hong Fa and Scooby. However, when Hong Fa leaves the room, a covered thug appears and abducts Shaggy and Scooby. Velma, Fred, and Daphne find a gold glitter left behind and use it to locate them back at Ling's toy store at the mall. The dragon appears and chases them, causing them to roll down a long escalator on a rickshaw. Though Mei Ling saves them from rolling off a cliff, the dragon abducts Mei Ling. Scooby attempts to rescue her, but fails, grabbing a tuft of the dragon's fur instead. Velma uses the fur to deduce the perpetrators.
Preparing a trap to capture the dragon, they upgrade Duck Guy into a much larger, mechanized robot. Shaggy and Scooby pose as a dragon in the New Year's parade, luring the monster into appearing. Fred, Daphne, and Velma, riding in and controlling Duck Guy, battle the dragon. shooting water while the dragon breathed fire. As the dragon chases Duck Guy into a fireworks factory, Shaggy and Scooby accidentally launch a large firework rocket, launching the dragon into the air before it explodes. The dragon falls back to the ground, defeated.
The dragon is revealed to be Wu, who controlled the costume with the other acrobats, except for Mei Ling, who is tied and gagged in the back of the costume. Wu stole the candy ring, and because Shaggy may have seen him inside the costume, he used the dragon costume to scare him away. The acrobats attempt to fight back, but Fred slips on a book and falls, knocking them over. Shaggy laments that he cannot bring Duck Guy home due to his size, but Mei Ling gives Shaggy her own rubber duck, Duck Girl. As the acrobats are handed over to Detective Kang, Fred attempts to remove the ring from Wu's hand, but the ring flies into Scooby's mouth and he accidentally swallows it.
