Bill McLemore was Eric Staufer's college partner.
Physical appearance[]
Bill is a young man in his late teens, with orange hair and green eyes. He wears a gray-brown T-shirt under a white lab coat, as well as blue jeans and a red baseball cap.
Personality[]
Bill is initially seen as a very kind and caring friend to Eric. In truth, he is very prideful and selfish, as he expresses bitter jealousy towards Eric for being chosen to participate in the science fair instead of him, whom he believes he rightfully deserves that role as he stayed in college longer.
This leads Bill to committing crimes out of spite, to the point of having no remorse in putting others lives in danger for his own benefit.
Bill is an avid baseball fanatic, using baseball terms whenever he can. This interest led him to get outed as the creator of the Phantom Virus, as he made the mistake of having the latter be too much like him.
History[]
Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase[]
Bill and Eric were both majoring in video game design at the university they were attending and they created a laser that could convert real-world objects into digital code or make digital code into real-world objects. They entered it a science fair with a $250,000 cash prize however, they needed an example and Professor Kaufman decided to use Eric's newly created game Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, based on his friend's adventures, rather than Bill's baseball game. One night, while Eric and Bill were working at the college with their teacher, Professor Kaufman, a virus came out of nowhere and started scaring them, using the technology to injure Eric. Professor Kaufman managed to drive it away with a very strong super-magnet.
The next day the Mystery Gang arrived because Eric, who's an old high school friend of theirs, based his game on them and the mysteries they've solved. While there, they were informed about the Phantom Virus. Bill also showed Fred Jones his video game about baseball because he's an avid baseball fan. During the search, however, he beamed the gang into the game, where they had to play through all the levels and finally defeated the monsters and the Phantom Virus. They then returned to the college to reveal the culprit who created the virus, and the clues he left behind, such as the baseball segments and phrases said by the virus. This made Eric realize that the culprit, who had an obsession for baseball, was none other than his best friend, Bill. When revealed as the culprit, he tried to escape Wembley and the Mystery Gang, but Scooby deliberately tripped him with his tail. This caused him to fall backwards, and crash into his desk, with his baseball game giving him a "game over".

Bill revealed as the Phantom Virus' creator
Upon his arrest, Bill confessed to doing it out of jealousy, because Professor Kaufman had chosen Eric's computer game project over his own to compete in the upcoming science fair. Bill felt that this was unfair, especially because he had been a student at the college two years longer than Eric, and felt that this made him more deserving to compete in the science fair than Eric. Bill created the virus, hoping to scare Eric away and take the prize money for himself. Because he was afraid that the gang would figure out he created the virus, he beamed them into cyberspace and hoped the virus would get rid of them or trap them in the game forever. In the end, Bill was arrested by Officer Wembley for his crimes.[1]
Other versions[]
Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase (GBA)[]
Bill McLemore was suspected to have unleashed the Phantom Virus due to his strong motive since if he could make Eric Staufer disappear he could keep the prize money for himself. When he is the person who unleashed the virus since the game ends as soon as anyone is picked as the mastermind, it's never explained what his true motives were however he was likely arrested by the officer who was nearby.[2]

Notes/Trivia[]
- It is shown early on that between himself, Eric and Professor Kaufman, Bill is the least intelligent of the trio. While still a genius, his intelligence appears to be more around an "average" level when compared to them. This is demonstrated when the Professor is describing their encounter with the Phantom Virus. The Professor states the magnet he used "had an adverse effect on the virus", Bill piped up and said "Yeah, and it seemed like the magnet weakened him, like Kryptonite with Superman.", essentially repeating what Prof. Kaufman just said. This may have also contributed to his jealousy and resentment towards Eric, who would understand the Professor's words.
- He also appears to be a bit of a slacker, if the Phantom Virus’s love of baseball is any indication. Bill likely created him using the same coding he used for his baseball game even if he tweaked it to make the virus.
