Benito Ureno, also known as El Bandito (lit. The Bandit) was a Mexican bandit regarded as one of the most famous in history, according to Fred. He was buried in Mercado, a small town in Mexico.

Physical appearance[]

In a flashback, Ureno was depicted as a Mexican adult male with short, dark grey hair and a mustache. He wears a black sombrero with a red edge, a blue cowboy shirt, and a red bandana. He also wears two black straps crossing his chest, a maroon cape, black pants, and two cowboy boots with metal spurs. According to Gustavo, he had two mismatched boots, his right boot being much larger than his left. According to Fred, he also had a skull tattoo on his bicep and a bicep tattoo on his forehead.

Early life and death[]

Following his death, Ureno was kept in a mausoleum in Mercado, Mexico. His treasure, however, remained lost for centuries after his death, with the map to the treasure being on his bandana.

Season two[]

Gustavo, a gift shop owner and self-proclaimed expert on El Bandito, began searching for Ureno's treasure. Because Ureno's tomb was only open annually on the Day of the Dead, Gustavo, a gift shop owner, disguised himself as Ureno's ghost to scare potential witnesses away while he took the map from the tomb. Mystery Inc. searched the tomb investigating the ghost attacks, finding two sabers which they used to unlock the trapdoor to Ureno's treasure.

Trivia[]

  • When discussing Ureno, Fred said, "He stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Then he stole from the poor." This is a reference to Robin Hood, a heroic outlaw in English folklore also known for robbing wealth to give the poor.
  • According to Gustavo, his last words were "You'll never catch me alive!".
