He came with Fred to help him give pitching tips to Scooby-Dum, but had to help him off the field when hurt himself.[1]
As a spectator at the reed-boating race, he advised Fred not to try to demonstrate his skill on a spare reed boat, and did anyway, breaking it in the process.[2]
Fred was a guest judge at the sand-castle-building contest, but he got into quicksand and had to be rescued by Barney.[3]

Appearances in other media[]
- Barney first appeared in Hanna-Barbera's first prime-time animated series, The Flintstones, which aired on ABC from 1960 to 1966. He was voiced by Mel Blanc, except for a few episodes, where he was substituted by Daws Butler, due to a near-fatal car accident. A recurring joke was the unclear job Barney had, with his employer being changed frequently from each episode.
