“ | I am the Goddess of Love! Bow at the feet of Aphrodite! | ” |
—Aphrodite |
Aphrodite was the disguise of Amanda Smythe, designed to take revenge on the entire town of Crystal Cove for her embarrassment as a teenager.
Physical appearance[]
Unlike the classical goddess, who is supposed to be beautiful, this Aphrodite is depicted as a gaunt zombie-like ghoul with pale blue skin and random red spots all over it. Her yellow-blonde hair is straggly and long with many split ends. She also has orange-red lips and long parted teeth, fin-like ears, and blue eyes with yellow sclera. Her skin and especially her face are also very withered. She wears a pink ball gown with short sleeves, a large square-shaped neckline and ankle long skirt. She also wears high-heeled pink shoes.
Personality[]
She acted like she was adored by everyone and behaved like a very vain drama queen. She was very mean and aggressive and demanded that other should bow before her even when she was trapped. She also demanded that her hypnotized victims catch her victims in a violent way.
Powers and abilities[]

Aphrodite hypnotizing Shaggy.
She creates a powerful love scent (pheromone) which makes anyone who smells it fall in love with everything that surrounds them, except for Scooby-Doo and Professor Pericles who are immune because pheromones don't cross species, as well as Angel due to her being born anosmic (born without a sense of smell). The love potion ingredients and method was given to her by Professor Pericles over the Internet. Pericles was also the one to create the antidote. The flowers that she sprayed the potion into (to add a more lovely atmosphere) strangely appear out of nowhere from her palm when she blows into it.
History[]
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated[]
Season one[]
Aphrodite terrorized Crystal Cove and mind controlled almost all of its citizens. Scooby-Doo (being immune to Aphrodite's powers) needed the help of Professor Pericles, who could turn everyone back to normal by using a potion that the parrot could make. Pericles knew the antidote to stop Aphrodite, which was three components; so he used pewter that was found in the stained-glass windows from the 18th century, ectoplasm or ghost mucus, and finally, rose quartz that were found in the caves beneath Crystal Cove. All the while, Aphrodite and her brainwashed followers spread terror all over town, until the time of her "coronation" came. The gang (who had been freed by Scooby and the professor and saved by Angel Dynamite earlier) planned to capture her during the coronation and free the brainwashed citizens with the antidote.

Amanda Smythe unmasked.
When Mystery Inc. performed their plan, they crashed the coronation, to the great dismay to Aphrodite. During the struggle, Aphrodite's crown was dropped, and in a panic she chased after it, which led to her getting trapped in a carpet-like trap and unmasked to reveal Amanda Smythe, a former student on Crystal Cove High. She wanted to be Prom Queen of Crystal Cove High which was promised to her by the popular kids at the time, but in reality it was a part of a prank, which ended with them putting a creepy mask over her face instead. She created the guise of Aphrodite and used it to take over the town by putting everyone in a love-infused trance by using an artificial love pheromone potion she inserted into flowers, making the people exposed to these flowers fall in uncontrollable love. She was then arrested by the police and would have had her revenge as well, hadn't it been for the gang, Angel and Pericles.[1]
Post-Nibiru[]
When the Evil Entity was destroyed, it altered all of reality for Crystal Cove; thus Aphrodite wasn't a disguise in the past.[2]
Appearances[]
- Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated
- 116. Where Walks Aphrodite
- 226. Come Undone (flashback only)(no lines)
Notes/trivia[]
- Her character could be a parody to the Stephen King character Carrie White, as both had traumatic events at Prom Night.
- In Cartoon Network's online game, Aphrodite's costume is on display at the Crystal Cove Spook Museum.
- In Greek Mythology, Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty.
- Although meant to be Aphrodite, she does resemble the real Aphrodite of Greek mythology in any way, except for making people fall madly in love. It is unknown whether or not she is meant to be the goddess herself, presumably she is.
- She was the second fake-monster to be shown after the defeat of the Evil Entity after Slime Mutant.
