Alura Zor-El is a Kryptonian and the birth mother of Supergirl, having sent her to Earth before their planet exploded. Somehow she and her husband, Zor-El, survived in a parallel dimension, where they are able to watch over their daughter on Earth, but are unable to be seen or heard.
