Aki is an associate of Velma Dinkley, working with her in a science fair in Tokyo. She accompanied Mystery Inc. as they investigated the attacks of Kaniaku.

Aki is an adolescent Japanese female with short black hair in a bob cut. Wearing multiple outfits, she was first seen wearing a dark blue jacket with a gold pin, an orange scarf, a dark blue skirt, knee-high socks, and black shoes. Later, when imitating Daphne's style, she wears a green-and-purple kimono messily worn, reflecting Daphne's inability to put hers on correctly. She also wore white socks and wooden geta.

Aki partnered with Velma in a science fair in Tokyo. At this point, Velma became a cultural sensation among the Japanese, so people started dressing as her for fashion.

Season two[]
Aki reunited with Velma during Mystery Inc.'s trip to Tokyo. There, she accompanied her in investigating Kaniaku, a crab demon from a legend that terrorizing the Uehara Bathhouse. However, when Kaniaku destroyed a festival, Officer Hiroshi did not believe Mystery Inc.'s accounts, blaming Aki for destroying the parade. She was brought to the police station, Hiroshi berated her parents. However, after being released, she continued to investigate with Mystery Inc. until capturing tailor Mr. Kagawa for posing as Kaniaku.
